Musical Affairs Grand Crescendo In principle, the Grand Crescendo is an "open baffle" loudspeaker; the "baffle" (the soundboard) is however folded into a sound box with a narrow opening on the back. In line with the laws of nature, we chose an "off centre" placement of the speaker in the front panel; a separate wooden frame was fitted inside the box, to which the speaker is attached. This relieves the front panel of the weight of the speaker and allows the box to function freely as a sound box. Although we realize that the "off centre placement of the speaker" will not be to everyone's taste, we chose this solution because extensive testing proved that this choice was the best from the point of view of quality of reproduction.        |
